Grab a Banana for Breakfast and Lose Weight!

Have you ever heard of the Banana Diet? I have not, until now.

Akin to my previous article, which was about drinking milk for breakfast as a way of losing pounds, here is another treasure I've digged into which I'm happy to share.

Once upon a time in Japan, the Morning Banana Diet have conquered many homes. It gained great popularity so much so that at one point it caused a shortage of banana supply in the country. The Banana Diet advises us to take one or two bananas for breakfast (only) and drink a full-glass of warm water. What you eat for the rest of the day (and night) does not matter. The "morning banana" will accelerate fat-burning in the body, contributing to a lost of three pounds a week. Whoa. How true can this be? Let's examine some points.

To quote Adelle Davis (1904 - 1974), we should "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper." Breakfast is the first meal of the day, breaking the "fasting" which happened while we were sleeping. What we eat for breakfast holds importance in "waking up" our metabolism for the entire day.

Bananas are rich in potassium, a naturally occurring chemical that boosts our metabolism and regulates our body’s water balance. What's more, bananas contain a type of starch called "resistance starch," which improves the burning of fat fat-burning throughout the day by about 25-30 percent. During digestion of this fruit, our body feels full and so partially blocks the absorption of carbohydrates.

As for the warm water suggestion: per Japanese traditional medicine, it is recommended that water should always be drank as warm or hot as this heals/cures our body system. So, are you sold?

Well, there's nothing wrong if we try. ; )
